Hope’s Going to Find You: A Poem
Before I go get a fresh cup of coffee, a note:
Hope’s going to find you.
Do you know why?
Because Hope is high above you.
It’s in the midst of you.
Even when you’re running away or hiding for dear life under your covers or crying in your car or in a night club or at the strip club or with your old friends or in a glass of wine,
Hope knows right where you are.
And it’s not scary. But it actually can be. Because even if you don’t come home,
One day Hope is coming back Here, to planet earth.
And if you’re afraid and you’ve been hiding in the darkness, you will then see Light, you will then see
Hope.
And Hope demands something:
Allegiance.
Hope demands obedience and honor.
Even if you’ve not honored this Hope that actually you were created for,
You will bow before Him.
Because, see, Hope died for you.
Hope set its arms out wide for you, with nails pounded in, through, squish, squirt, splattered blood on a wooden beam.
It was for the joy that was set before Him that [Hope] endured the cross.
And you, my friend, you are that Joy.
You are the reason Hope took to death and submitted itself there.
But now, if you feel worry or fear or shame crawling at your ankles, your neck,
Take a deep breath because Hope came back to life after three days..
And that’s why we have this opportunity, see,
For a Living Hope to Bring us back to life. In Hope, with Hope, of Hope
That there is so much more than this bottle and screen and strip club and bed.
There is Promise for eternity with Hope.
And do you know what Hope alludes to?
Jesus
Hope is going to find you.
